Voice agents have at most one draft and one published version, plus archived previously published versions. Calls use the published configuration. Editing and publishing require agents.update.

What publication controls

Immediate settings are outside the draft lifecycle. Restoring a voice version should not be treated as restoring every organization resource.

Save and publish

Edits autosave after you stop typing. Cmd+S or Ctrl+S forces a draft save. Watch the bottom status bar: saved draft, unpublished changes, saving, save failed, or an invalid numeric value. Select Publish, optionally add a change note, and wait for confirmation. The new configuration becomes published and the previous one is archived. If publication fails, inspect the error and resolve it before assuming calls use the change. Discard draft returns the editable configuration to the published version. In Versions, Restore this version on an archived version publishes a new version with that configuration and archives the current one. It overwrites the open draft, so preserve any changes you still need first. The history shows version number, status, note, and date. There is no side-by-side diff, scheduled publication, percentage rollout, or editing of past publication notes.

Test the published agent

Tests use the published version and consume credits. Publish before testing a prompt change.
  • Web: optionally enter contact name, email, and dynamic variables; select a microphone and start talking. The panel shows live transcript, mute, elapsed time, and an end-call action. Microphone selection applies to the next call.
  • Phone: choose a verified Call from number, enter Call to with country code, and optionally provide contact name and variables. This places a real call.
Dynamic-variable keys use lowercase names and underscores, such as order_number. Use representative missing and populated values. Both test types follow plan duration caps: Free 3, Starter 7, Pro 30, Growth and Enterprise 60 minutes. Recent tests provide recordings and transcripts; calls also appear in the main log. The agent-list test action offers web tests, while phone tests are in the editor.
